Nicaraguan

I first fell in love with coffee from Nicaragua when I traveled there in 2003.  It was the first 'women in coffee' trip to meet with women coffee farmers. Many of the country’s coffee farms are run by brave women whose Sandinista husbands died in the civil war. It was here I realized that it was Fair Trade practices that abled these women to survive and produce a world-class coffee like this one.

During a meeting with a group of these women, someone asked what we could do in the US to help them. One very proud woman stood up and simply said “just buy our coffee”. They didn’t want charity; they just wanted a fair price for their coffee. So, we did. We bought their coffee. And we’ve enjoyed their coffee ever since.
