Pachemama
There are many “rules” when it comes to blending coffee – but some of our best blends were created not by the rules, but from moments of pure inspiration, where the name and the coffees used came together effortlessly. Pachamama is one such blend. During a trip to the coffee lands of Peru, I couldn’t help but notice the overwhelming presence of the spirit of Mother Earth, or Pachamama as they call her in Peru. She is a goddess revered by the indigenous peoples of the Andes; a fertility goddess who presides over all planting and harvesting.
I knew then that I wanted to create a blend in her honor. But to be a ‘blend’, I needed to add another coffee. Ethiopian coffee, from the birthplace of coffee, seemed like the logical choice. But would these two coffees work together as well in the cup as in the mind? With a few tweaks on proportions and roast color, we had a new, smooth, rich organic, fair-trade blend to add to our collection. Slightly sweet and so smooth it's easy to drink all day long.
